The Sir William Hartley Scholarship was founded in 1925 by Mrs Clara Lister Gabbat (wife of John Percy Gabbat, Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy in this University 1908-1922), in memory of her father, the late Sir William Pickles Hartley, 1846-1922.

Eligibility

The scholarship shall be open to a woman who has been a student of the University of Canterbury for at least one year and who has obtained the Bachelor's or some higher degree in a university in New Zealand, and has acquitted herself with such distinction that in the opinion of the Academic Board she is capable of obtaining a Doctor's degree at an English university.

Amount $10,000 per annum
Tenure 3 years
Closing Dates 01 Nov 2012
