
Description
This scholarship was established in 2007 by the Stewart family in memory of their parents, Sam and Pam Stewart. The Opihi River and other South Canterbury rivers were important in their lives for aesthetic and recreational reasons.
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist and encourage postgraduate students enrolled in research relevant to the conservation and sustainable management of the South Canterbury rivers, preferably with a focus on the Opihi Catchment.
Eligibility
For Masters or PhD student at the University of Canterbury to support full-time research in biological sciences, environmental science, geography, history or other subjects, with relevance to the conservation and sustainable management of the natural and physical resources of the South Canterbury rivers.
