What is the Public Category?
The New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID) New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) are awarded by NZAID on behalf of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The scholarships are for Postgraduate and Undergraduate.
The NZAID-Public scholarships scheme is a non-bilateral scheme available to candidates from countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
The NZAID-Public scholarships are for full-time multi-year courses in New Zealand. In the Southeast Asia region, scholarships are offered for postgraduate level study, except Timor Leste where scholarships are also offered for undergraduate level study. Please check your
How to Apply?
- Apply to a nominating authority or a management contractor in your home country
- From there, you will get the ‘expression of interest’ or application forms Note: Each country’s deadline to receive completed expression of interest or preliminary application forms differs. Please check the relevant country information sheet.
- Shortlisted candidates are sent the NZDS application form to complete, then return with the supporting documentation.
- Deadline for Southeast Asian countries is 30 June and for Pacific countries 31 August.
- Successful candidate will be advised of their scholarship offer between September
- Unless notified otherwise, the New Zealand education institution will arrange travel to New Zealand.
- Successful candidates commence their studies around February the following year.
